I am convinced that we need get our society rid of
Communalism and Castiesm; eradicate corruption and
bring in good governance for development. Nothing
short of zero tolerance for inefficiency and total
dedication in building an all inclusive society will
remove inequities and generate jobs in all strata of
society |

|
Communalism and Casteism: |
|
|
|
All political parties, without exception, are
running this country by dividing this society, by
appealing for votes implicitly, explicitly and even
rabidly on the basis of caste, creed and religion.
We are also increasingly finding that various
political parties and leaders are fanning flames and
encouraging or looking the other way, while
self-anointed moral brigades and goons are
arrogating to themselves moral codes of conduct; and
the police watch haplessly and impotently. There is
a pervading culture of fear that has seeped into our
bureaucracy, which is always looking at the
political masters in power as to what appeases them
and what angers them, instead of acting by the
constitution on which they have taken an oath. |
|
|
|
I think for too long many of us have watched this
state of affairs from the periphery, from the
outside as though it were a movie, in the cozy
comfort of our drawing rooms, pubs or clubs.
Indifference, apathy and complacency is a luxury
that none of us can afford any longer. |
|
|
|
Recent incidents including the brazen attacks of
terrorism on our country (Mumbai attacks of 26/11
and many more), the communal attacks on Christians
in Karnataka and other communities across the
country and the self-proclaimed moral brigades of
Ram Sevaks outraging the modesty of women while
brutally beating them up, indicate that we might be
precariously close to becoming a failed state - a
nation of weak citizens who watch helplessly even as
all that we cherish gets destroyed. We may wake up
too late to find that our very social fabric is
ruptured beyond repair. |
| |
| We will have to courageously step out of our
homes, shrug our indifference and apathy and
participate in the administration of our country to
prevent it from slipping into state of anarchy. Each
one of us is responsible for this mess and it is our
responsibility to clean it up. We can not expect
someone from outside to come and change it for us. |
| |
| We must believe that we can make a difference,
we must act with courage and say NO to political
parties and leaders who are throwing us and the
society into communal flames. |
| |
| I have thought long, realized and come to the
conclusion that no price is too heavy to pay to
protect our glorious Indian way of life, which has
accommodated all religions, all cultures, all
communities, all creeds and has given us a cultural
heritage rich in its mosaic of diversity of
traditions, life styles and ideas. So we can stop
our society from breaking up by the very simple act
of you saying “NO, I will not let this happen, I
will engage myself in public life and will act
firmly and on time against all those who are seeking
to divide us.” |
| |
| Corruption and Good Governance: |
| |
| It is an open secret that every political party
and most candidates spend an obscene amount of money
during elections, running into thousands of crores.
Most of it is unaccounted for. Most candidates of
all political parties first rob the states and its
people, and subsequently distribute the same back to
them during elections; in the process enriching
themselves. This is self-evident that the lives of
most politicians and their parties start with a lie
and it is embedded in deception and
money-laundering. |
| |
| If our state appears weak it is because we as
citizens have allowed it. We are all in one way or
other responsible for this sorry state of affairs.
We are all part of the problem and also the
solution. The best and the most effective way of
putting a stop to this is to tell the political
parties and their masters that You cannot be bought,
that You will not mortgage your soul and ideas and
that Your vote will not be sold. We must stop them
from amassing our wealth. |
| |
| I, like many of you, am also frustrated and
agonized by our existing political system and its
inefficiency and the lack of urgency with which they
address critical day to day matters. |
